Saginaw River Walleye report 1/27/2008

Sunday 1/27/2008, Cameron and I caught 14 walleye, but only 2 keepers. We were using a 1/4 ounce green/chartruese jighead, tipped with a minnow. The bite was better when we either pinched off the minnow's tail or broke it open somewhat. I also caught a few fish with a chartruese / white jigging rapala. Most of the fish were 8 - 14 inches, but the two keepers were both 3 pounds.
Rick went perch fishing on Paterson Road today in Bay City, and he reported that he was catching them, but they were small around 7 inches.
Saturday, 1/26/2008 Cameron and his friends caught 50 walleye, and only had 3 keepers at second street., while Rick fished behind the Civic Center and had 7 keepers in the morning, and the evening bite was slow.
Friday, 1/25/2008 Rick reported keeping 9 walleye, mainly on chartruese/white and firetiger jigging rapala's.

michigan snowmobile report near Leonta MI 1/19/2008

We went to the Jonesville parking lot near Leonta MI to start our trek today. We turned west on trail 1 and toured the loops of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. The snow cover was great, the traffic was light, and the trails were in great shape at the end of the day. I brought a gps with me, so that we could explore and find my way back no matter which trail I took. It worked well, and we went on some side trails that were 4 wheeler and cycle trails, which were a lot of fun twisting and turning and going up and down hills. We didn't have a clue where we were but the snow was good, and we followed the gps east until we found the trail system again. We'll have to bring the four wheelers there in the spring, when I am not fishing.

Cadillac snowmobile report 1/11/2008

We started on trail 35, just off M115, near Lake Mitchell. There was 4 inches of new snow, and the trails were really good. No dirt, fresh coating of powder from the few snow showers. There wasn't enough snow to be groomed, but there weren't many snowmobiles using the trails so the trails were in pristine condition. We went 20 miles west to the Irons trail system, and crossed the Pine river. It was very scenic as the new snow was still on the tree branches and side of the trees as well.
